Automatic Fresh Air
Automated casement and awning windows from Marvin can be opened and closed with switches, set up to operate on a schedule, and programmed to react to temperature and humidity levels.
Marvin recently introduced automated casement and awning windows as part of their Modern product line, which features narrow sightlines and modular capabilities. These new windows are operated by 24v DC motors, and can be opened and closed with switches on the units or with wall switches, or set up on a customized daily schedule using home automation systems, voice assistants, or the Marvin Home app.
The app also allows you to open windows to ventilate the house on a schedule or when you’re not there by programing the windows to react to conditions such as outdoor temperature and humidity levels. The windows are equipped with sensors that will override set programs and close the windows when rain is detected, and a capacitor provides the power needed to shut the windows during a power outage. Adding the automated capability will not reduce performance; however, because auto-operated awning windows use one center latch rather than two side latches, they are limited to a height of 44 in.
There is no size restriction to the auto-operated Modern casement window sizes, and to maintain egress requirements, auto-operated casement windows have a manual override system in case of emergencies during a power outage. In addition to these new Modern automated casement and awning windows, which are currently available at select dealers, Marvin also offers auto operated multi-slide doors and skylights.
