Wall-Mounted Fan Coil Unit for an Air-to-Water Heat Pump
Ben Bogie explains the inner workings of the Aris Hydronics air-to-water heat pump, with a focus on the fan coil units.
This is a follow-up to Josh Salinger’s video about the Aris Hydronics Air to Water Heat pump. In part 1, Josh showed the outdoor unit along with the storage tanks in the basement. This time around, Ben Bogie joins Josh in the rooms where the wall-mounted fan coil units will be located, and Ben answers questions like “What is a fan coil unit?” and “How does it work?”
To start, Ben shows how the hot or cold water travels to the various rooms of the home and is run through the fan coil units, which will hang on the wall and distribute the heating or cooling via a small fan (similar to what one would find in a wall-hung minisplit cassette). Each one of these units has its own controls and thermostat, which allows one to set the temp where one likes it. The units have a 110v plug, a water inlet and return, and a condensate drain that runs to a washer box located in the wall behind the units.
