Perfect-Fit Fascia
Use this technique to create perfect butt joints in fascia without having to square up the first board and measure the second.
Next time you have to install fascia boards, try this time-saving tip: Overlap a subsequent fascia board onto a board that has already been installed and fasten the side that does not overlap (1). Then cut through both boards at one time using a circular saw with the blade set at 15° and the depth set just a bit deeper than the width of the two boards (2).
After cutting, pull out the scrap and fasten the second board (3). With a single cut you eliminate the need to square up the first board and to measure the second board. Plus, this technique will result in a perfect butt joint every time, even if your cut is not perfectly square.
