The CR series of combination boilers from Noritz consists of two models, the CB180DV and the CB199DV. The two compact wall-hung boilers provide 180,000 and 199,000 Btuh for hot water, respectively. Likewise, they output 100,000 and 120,00 Btuh for space heating, respectively.
Both units perform at 95% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency), which means 95% of the Btuh input is converted into usable heat. Both units meet Energy Star Most Efficient standards.
The boilers feature flow control valves for hot water and can work with most heating applications such as radiators, baseboards, low- and high-mass radiant heating, and air handlers. A reset sensor measures outdoor temperatures helps the CB Combi to operate at increased efficiency. There are different temperature settings for hot water and heating. Hot water ranges from 90° to 140° Fahrenheit and heat ranges from 100° to 180° Fahrenheit. An external pump control allows for an external secondary or booster pump to be wired directly to the unit to deliver increased BTU’s on the primary loop without diminishing efficiency. Three Austenite stainless steel heat exchangers are designed for high performance and long life.
Noritz states that, via condensing technology, exhaust temperatures are low enough for the use of PVC, CPVC or PP venting. The use of plastic venting materials in place of stainless steel venting, as required by non-condensing water heaters, should save money and time on installation.
Noritz states the units weigh 90 lb. are 80% smaller than traditional floor-mounted boiler and water heater.

Please note that maximum efficiency ratings may not be reached - to reach 95%, the unit must operate in the temperature range below 140 degrees. Most heating systems in homes with fin tube base board or column radiators were designed to use 180 degree water.
No manufacturer of PVC pipe tests or approves their products for use as a venting material - it is destined to be banned for such use............
I am a contractor and registered mechanical engineer. I have installed hundreds of Noritz tanklesses and have been very happy with them. In my opinion, this, however, is a piece of junk. Despite many dollars and hours spent trying to eliminate the Error 54 (low water pressure), still happens. Has an eternal fill regulator. Tech support is sending my on a wild goose chase. The machine has plenty of pressure. This is a design/software error.are error.
