After a few years of doing restoration masonry, Dave Seegers decided that working with wood was easier than stonework and started subcontracting for Hudson Valley Preservation. He was later hired by the firm, where he honed his craft in historic preservation work, becoming a partner in the company in 2001. His present role includes estimating, preproduction design development, sales, and production management. In this issue, he writes about building a smart foundation for a small kitchen addition.
