Loren Ross received a Master in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in wood construction from Washington State University. He worked as a design engineer in Tacoma, Wash., and later with the Army Corps of Engineers. Eventually, he became the manager of engineering research at the American Wood Council, where he worked with the Deck Code Coalition and as the project manager for DCA 6. Loren now works as an application engineer for Altenloh, Brinck & Co., manufacturer of SPAX fasteners.
