My wife is opening her own store and rented a store space. She wanted 1/2 walls to dileneate between work areas and retail areas. It is an older building with multiple flooring. I hav done very little framing but I framed the walls and found that when trying to secure them I am having two problems that are most probably related:
1. Plumb- the wall perpendicular to the wall is both plumb and level. there is a short 6 foot wall that is parallel to the wall and is attached to the first 1/2 wall. Where the two 1/2 walls are attached it is both plumb and level. By the end of that wall it is nowhere near plumb. How do I make the wall plumb?
2. Stability- I have read previous posts on how to stabilize a 1/2 wall ad most requited attaching them to the joists. IS there another way? There are multiple subfloors (the building is 200 years old) so if I could avoid cutting through the subfloors I would prefer to do that.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't want to go down.....
Go up.
post at each end of all the walls, carry that up, now you can go through the ceiling, block it and secure the walls.
Your first point reads like a Mensa challenge..but

At this point, it most likely involves a sawzall and a level.
Yeah, it's far better to run a post up than to go down and try to get a rigid anchorage below. If you're clever you can make the post running up a "feature".
go up
I will try to make it look like a feature as you suggested. Thanks for your help!
