Hi,
I thinking of buying a 10 1/4 skilsaw and was wondering if anyone had specific exp. with either the Makita, Milwaukee, or other brand. I used to have a 16″ Makita that I called the amputator, because with the blade guard retracted during the cut, that big blade came very close to my thigh. Never got me though!
Also, a question: I’ve done a far amount of framing, but I’m certainly not a “framer”. But, when I cut 2×4’s (or 2×6’s) I just line them all up on edge, throw a pipe clamp over the top, and got 50 or 100 at a time. Why don’t all framers do this? It seems so much faster than cutting them one at a time, but I don’t see anyone do it this way.

Get the Bosch Bigfoot. http://www.bigfoottools.com/bigTenInch.html
This saw is superior to either the Milwuakee or the Makita. If you get the swing table, you can bevel to 75°
I have the makita 10" but I sure wish I bought a wormy with a bigfoot. The makita has a lousy base that is hard to keep square and seems a bit under powered. It was all anybody had in stock when I needed it and it did the job but I hate using it.
