12/12 pitch with 2 x 12 and 2 x 6 walls
Likely changing our house plans to a full cathedral ceiling (ridge beam). House will be 24 feet wide, 12/12 pitch so I should be able to use 2 x 12’s thankfully.
With this steep of a pitch how do you cut in birdsmouth without going beyond the limits of 1/4 of the 2 x 12, seems like the flat portion of the 2 x 12 would only be like 2-3 inches long and wouldnt rest fully on the plate

2x12 actual = 11.25". 1/4 of that is 2.81"
12/12 pitch gives a seat close to 4". Minimum required bearing length is 1.5"
It's all good.
Fantastic, thanks very much. Also any thoughts on rafters being notched over top of beam vs butting up against the beam ? Thanks again
Resting rafters on top of a ridge beam will take care of down load. There still needs to be something to resist the uploads from winds, so additional straps/fittings are required.
Rafter hangers take care of both. I would use them unless there was some compelling reason to have the beam below the rafters.
So face attachment is generally the prefered manner then ?
