14.4 millwaukee impact vs 10.4
i have a mil 14.4 impact that has become probably my favorite tool/most used.
but it’s starting to groan a little in the bearings. i can pick up a body only for 125. today i’m looking at the little 10 volt impact,it says 850 inch lbs of torque, heck my 14 only has 750lbs. is this right ? does the little ones battery last very long?
i like the idea of smaller but just can’t imagine that the smaller one can outperform the bigger one. anybody got a comparison????? thanks larry

Get the body for the 14.4. I have a 10.8 Bosch impact and while I think its great it in no way compares to the 18v Bosch impact I have, totally different tool. The small one has tons of great uses and you can stick it in your pocket but its not meant for driving long screws or constant use. Sure it can do the job but its not efficient or practical.
If budget allows get the small one too (or at some point) you'll find many great uses. I like it most for stuff around the house because I don't like to drag out too much stuff at home and it can handle most stuff I need to do, its just plain ole handy. I noticed its almost impossible to compare impact drivers by the ratings they give you because they measure different stuff, don't in any way think the small impact would replace your 14.4 for everyday use.
+1. There's no way my 10.8v Bosch impact can even compare to my 14.4v Dewalt impact.
Is it a 10v Li-Ion battery?
I've been noticing several new tools using the lower voltage Li-Ion batteries. I think that the idea is that the better power and battery life of the Li-Ion makes it possible to make smaller and lighter tools that match their bigger brothers using Ni-Cad batteries.
yea ,thats the battery, sounds like the little ones just won't hit it as hard as the bigger ones.
when i first got my 14.4 i didn't think it was much better than a screwgun. about 3 hours of use and that changed my mind. larry
