15 GA. Angled Finish Nailers

zorrosdens | Posted in Tools for Home Building on May 18, 2005 04:50am

Regarding the Senco Finish Pro 41XP, MAX NF550 and the Hetachi NT65MA2 15 GA. angle finish nailers…….Has anyone used these and made an informed comparison?  I’m very familiar with all the Senco’s and would like to know if the Hitachi is a better built and acting gun, I know and use their great stick framer (the 83).  I have many of the Sencos and am happy with them for the most part, even though they are using more plastic with some positive AND a few negative effects.  I’ve seen the MAX’s in a few stores, but have never seen any in use.  I’m getting ready to buy another 15 ga. and would appreciate your inputs on whether the Hitachi beats the Senco now, they look and I feel it will, and I would like to know anything I can about the MAX,….. I want what ever input can be had from someone who has had hands-on and felt the action and seen the nail hole left behind, and how they nail in hardwood solids…..THANKS!      ~Z~

I have used both the senco and the hitachi, and i prefer the hitachi. I thought the built in air blower was a bit of a gimmick, but it turns out to be useful quite often.

From what i have read and talking to other contractors, the Max gun is right up there with the best of them though.

Thanks for the input and I think if I don't buy the MAX it would be the Hitachi also after talking with most of the responses......I grew up in San Diego.....where are you on the West Coast?

Don't know about the other two but I like my Senco.

Hi Cat,  thanks for the note.....I've always used Senco for my angle needs but now that so many others are available and some of the "improvements" on the Sencos has me wishing some of the old guns were still around....I am sure you are going to enjoy the Senco nailer, they are a good gun.  The Hitachi does have a sweeter balance in the hand and according to my gun repairer (not that I have to use him, but they DO see what the guns are doing for many others and the inputs made regarding them) the Hitachi is a better gun.  Thanks for your mention here.

Really like the Hitachi (have 2) the air duster is very handy too, but dont like the fact that it does not have a belt hook.

Almost without exception I put a senco aluminum hook on all my guns....they just seem to be more useful in the field....try one, they make a couple of sizes.   The Hitachi would have been my next pick if I hadn't chose the MAX.   The hooks attach where you put the air nipple into the nailer   Thanks,  ~Z~
