congrats, it's good to have help - - good luck with your pergola, post a pict, always good to see what people are doing - DOUD"there's enough for everyone"
thanks for the support, took longer then i thought, but i had other"distractions" that kept my progress down a bit... hope to get started this weekend on the pergola, am trying to decide whether or not to attach to the house... any advice would be much apprciated... thanks

most pergolas I have seen are free standing, attachment to the house would offer some help in stabilizing the structure - - I'd consider the wind situation - is this the sheltered side of the house? - - since the patio is right off the house, I'd be inclined to attach it - - is this Wyoming where this is located? "there's enough for everyone"
no i am from there, now in atlanta. the patio overall is 14x20, was going to use 5 6by pillars and the middle back would be attached to the house at the chiminy. will dig up a few pavers and make concrete footings there at the corners and the front middle. will then run 2x6 over the 20foot span, supported in the middle... what do yo think? then run 1x3 cross ways over that...

Nice job bro...what kind of bricks are those?
Washing the sand in between the bricks with H2-0 right?
BE sure to spray them with weed killer each spring other wise you'll be sorry.
How much you rent that kid out for....I'm gonna need a patio next year.
He should be a pro by then.
BE well

Thanks Andy,
definately not a pro, took me a month to do what you guys probably do in a short weekend.. yes put fabric down and even mixed in some termite killer for good measure... mother nature took care of the water part... the bricks are Pavestone Plaza stones... used about 2.5 pallets of retangles and squares.
am just trying to figure out the pergola design now.. should have thought about that first... but thought that was something i could do later... any ideas will be appriciated...
Benjamin will work for free, if you promise to take care of him. Sorry no one to protect you from him... wife has to put him to sleep during the process cause he cause more damage then two people could fix...
here he is in his new pool on the patio... he loves the water... :)We were the winners, cause we didnt know we could fail....
