just out of curiousity what is the outside diameter of the fluted columns?
Any interesting plans for climbing & weaving plant life? Are you going to add accent lighting?
the columns are 6 in dia aluminum columns, but they are for decoration only, i had no way to attach them to the concrete pads, so i decided to put 4x4 posts inside the columns, they are load bearing columns, but in this case just trim really. had to hurry to put it together cause my help was only here for 2 days... else it would have been more trimed out.. will cut he rafters out , put up some cross rafters and lattice, some vines , some lights.. and on the outside edge will be were a bench with lattice sits. Just waiting really for the weather to cool down... very very hot now...

Sounds INTERESTING!, Let me know what kind of lighting you go with - type, placement......
I am guessing some sort of low voltage lighting will be best. I have a ton of other things on it to get done of coarse, but man it is just too hot here now. Next spring we are thinking of a jacuzzi next to the patio... but first i need to put up a fence to keep the 18 mo old somewhat controlled...:) which is not easy...
do you know what the stuff is that they used for plywood siding, i noticed that they used OSB on the corners, but in the middle of the walls they used some sort of yellow foam type board???
