2″ Carbide hole saw for porcelain tile?

I need to drill a 2″ hole in the middle of porcelain tile.
I see that I can use basically two kinds of hole saws:
Carbide (but all the ones I find just say for ceramic tile)–not sure if it’ll work on porcelain?
diamond (much more expensive).
Anyone know if you can use the carbide ones on porcelain?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Because of convience I just stop by my granite guys shop and have him cut it for me with the wet diamond hole saw & give his man a couple of bucks. It's just a thought.
Don't bother with carbide, you'll just break tiles. You need diamond tooling. Got a set of 5 hole saw bits from overstock.com a couple of years ago for under 40 bucks and they are still going strong.
diamond and lots and lots and lots of water ...
I recently had to drill a hole in a very hard porcelain tile. Not having much luck with the tools I had - carbide.
Went to a contractor's supply house for tile. They reccommended the Perfect Hole saw by FlorCraft. I used it, and it worked very well. Would not work for tile already mounted on a vertical surface, but, if you are cutting on a new tile that has not been installed yet, it works well - makes a very clean hole.
I was supprised to see that it used a hammer drill, but, like I say - it worked well.
I have since seen them carried at Menards. The 1 3/8" saw I needed ran around $25 if I remember right.
Here is a link to this type of system on U tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcS9RkoloKQ
good luck
I just used the home depot holesaw for ceramic tile on porcelin tile a few weeks ago. It worked great. I didn't rush the cut and the holes were fine. I had to run 3/4 copper through the floor for new hot water baseboards so I was a little worried about cracking the tile.
Have a good day
