When installing 2 piece base….square stock with cap….is there by reason to miter the inside corners on the squqre stock.

Doesn't hurt to back-cut the second piece slightly, to make the joint less visible.
No, it should be a square cut. If you think about it a square cut is a coped joint on square stock

the inside corners of profiled trim should be coped. Square stock, no.
where it makes sense and is readily available, I glue and nail off that square stock to itself. Then I place the assembled pc into the corner and nail it off.
I also blob some panel adhesive behind that corner for solid backing. Nothing like an aggressive carpet installer to make a good trim job look bad.

I have always used a slight negative angle...posts seem sort of slow so I though Id throw something in that I always
wondered about.
