22′ x 26′ Garage joists & rafters?

Hip roof all around with 6/12 slope. Garage does not connect to house – is stand-alone.
How would you frame up the ceiling joists and rafters? 2×6 rafters and 2×8 ceiling joists? 16″ or 24″ centers? Ceiling to not have any center support to floor.
Wanting to use 7/16″ OSB decking and metal roof. 1/2″ or 5/8″ ceiling sheetrock?
Southern USA so snow or ice load is not a problem.

As someone who just had to raise his garage roof 12" to make it usefull...
Why are you only giving yourself 8" of height? Consider a future need for parking a motorhome or truck - if you don't, a potential buyer a decade from now might consider that a REAL asset.
Also, I see alot of lumber in that attic. Why not redesign it slightly so that it can be a usefull storage space? Since you are in the south, are you planning on radient barrier and vented insulation up there too?

Your lumberyard can quote you an engineered truss package for this. It's done all the time. No issues with ties, post supports, etc.
With trusses up, it could be quickly strapped with rollformed steel RC channel on 16" centers, and rocked in 1/2" board. My rocker sub would have that strapped in minutes. I cannot believe how fast he can blitzkrieg a ceiling of trusses with RC.
