I learned about these guns here and have bought several. My problem is jams. I’ve had to replace the drivers on both the Accuset and Senco models several times. Is this just because the driver and nails are so small and thin? Is there another brand out there in the headless nail style that doesn’t have this problem?

ed- there a gun out there called the pr.28 shoots a headless nail 5/8"- 1 1/8" headless (actually looks just like a piece of wire) i got mine from a place called select machinery inc. the down side is the price at 279.00 u.s.. i love mine i 've have used now for three years , for door and window stops, and when i make window and door half lapped muntins w/ glue and a 1 " pin that gives it an added insurance. i've used it primarily pine and oak and so far it not a problem. the driver pin is narrow though but even threw oak knots( i ran a test of around 20 nails threw a series of knots) it does the job. try these if it sounds like it fits you: http://www.omertools.com 1-604-876-9909 hope i helped ..... cheers..bear p.s. how long did you get out of the senco and accuset before there's problem??

Bear,
We did shoot a heck of a lot of nails before I had a problem. We were putting up willow twigs in a herringbone pattern between ceiling beams. I bet I've bought over 100,000 nails. But it seems like the jams are more and more frequent.
With the Omar being close to $300, I can replace a lot of drivers for less than that. Thanks for the link, I'll have a look anyway.

Ed....
You get the Accuset...or the Senco?
I know..I know....the accuset is made my Senco.....and now colored in Sence colors.....but
The first one I saw/used was a whole different shape than the Accuset.
It was made for Senco somewhere in Italy. Built like a little tank....felt great. The price was the same problem though......also around $300.
It used to be listed on the Senco site..not sure since they started with the Accuset stuff.
I have the accuset......but haven't shot near as many pins as you have. No problems so far......but I'd say you are 2 to 3 times farther tham me.
I had looked at the Omer for when this one dies. I was told the firing pin was the weak link. I'd love to track down that old style Senco if I could. The cab maker who's I used had it for many long years.....said it never misfired. I'm sure his shot more than all ours combined.

jeff- if that thing is made in italy, i'd bet there a fasco connection somewhere. take a look see maybe it'll pan out. my fasco 18 gauge brad nailer, was made in the boot(italy) it's a pretty decent tool. twelve years not even a wheeze also, and at least a 100 k of nails have been shot threw that....... gotta bolt..... bear
Jeff,
Yeah, they are both made by the same company and I've had the same results with both.
the Senco headless, I believe, is an 18g headless pin gun. I didn't see it at Amazon. I'll check the Senco site and with my tool dealer.
I've ordered a bunch of drivers. Looks like I'll be doing my own repairs on these guns.

I'm ot sure if the old Senco 23g pinner is still available...that's the one I used(from Italy) and have only seen in one catalog a while back.
Off the top of my head.....SHP 10 maybe? Positive it was 23g....and lotsa more compact than my Accuset 23g.
But I guess even if ya have to rebuilt it every so often......still a fantastic idea. I love that little gun.
On the plus side....hardly hurts/bleeds when ya shoot yourself in the thumb!
