Dear Friends:
I’m installing new appliances in our kitchen and the current range hood which I would like to replace is 28″ wide. I’ve looked all over and cannot find one that size. We are keeping the current cabinets as they are still quite nice. Any ideas as to where I can get one to fit? (Or how I could trim up a wider one to fit)
Thanks in advance,
Carl

Thanks for the reply Mike. But the item you linked me to is the blower. It's made to go with a hood liner which is what I need at 28". The Hood liner's all come in 30", 36" etc. (or so it seems.) Does anyone have any experience "trimming up" a 30" range hood to fit a smaller size without it looking like a piece of (you-know-what)?
Thanks,
Carl
When I've used the Broan insert it's been with a custom wood hoods, or once in a custom copper hood. Guess I should have said that the first time. Unless you're real good with sheet metal I wouldn't try to cut one down.
The "liner" doesn't need to be metal, just any easy-to-clean surface that can take a bit of heat.
You COULD take a cheap hood to a sheet metal shop and see if they can either cut it down or, probably easier for them, make a new one 28" wide to fit the guts of the 30" unit.
