Any suggestions for 3/4″ hardwood meeting 1/2″ tile? I’ve torn out the carpet in my living room, and am looking forward to having some lovely cherry flooring installed. My first choice is 3/4″ cherry, but the tiles that meet the floor in two places are only 1/2″ off the subfloor. Is there a transition that can be installed so that visitors aren’t tripping? Or am I looking at having the tiles replaced as well?
Don’t worry, I have a reputable guy installing everything, but want to hear some opinions before I make any decisions.
Thanks!

Sure, a nice transition piece, in hardwood of the same species as the floor, with a little 1/4" drop across a width of maybe 1" (read 1/4 x 1 bevel) on a 2-1/4" strip width ought to look just ducky.
Leave a 3/16 gap between the tile and the beveled edge of the strip, and be sure to use caulk there, not grout. A color-matched silicone should work just fine.
