I had someone contact me saying they would take CAD drawings and do a 3-D rendering. Does anyone have a contact for someone that does this?

an architectural rendering can be a very important part of a design presentation. But there can be a lot of time involved in getting it just right. some guys focus more on layout and don't have the patience to do the renderings. I like it myself, but never charge enough for the time I spend playing at it.
And my latest software upgrade has me lacking in the graphics dept on this PC, so it will only do the line drawings or sketched/shaded 3D which is fine for communicating with people about layouts because most cannot conceptualize the actual from line drawings.
I need to upgrade my hardware now to get re-equipped for rendering.
What CAD program do you use?

I think my designer uses softplan or autocad and they do not do 3D. They usually send me the PDF's. This is a client that wants to use one of his structures to cover the house while remodel.

Softplan works in 3d naturally. it is what I use. Here is one view from an afternoon's work, only illustrated, not a high quality rendering. But the point is that SP can do the renderings as long as the designer is willing to spend some time with it.might be that all they are sending you for the price is the pdf plan and elevation.I can't speak for ACAD.

Go to chieftalk.com and post a message there.
It's a message board for chiefarchitect users. AMAZING 3d program and all the folks there are extremely helpful.
Chief can import various autocad files. Once imported, it can essentially be "traced" with chief's tools and then that "tracing" is easily converted to a 3d rendering.
Probably wouldn't take someone there much more than an hour to do what you want, depending on how complicated the house is.
Shouldn't cost very much either.
Did you mean to reply to the OP?I notice you said, "that "tracing" is easily converted to a 3d rendering."
Did you mean convert to a 3D symbol?
Softplan imports all those now too.A rendering is like an artists conception of the job. Here is one I did back in a previous version. and maybe a shot of the finished jobIf all he has is an autocad 2D plans and elevations in PDF, it will take a heck of a lot longer than an hour or so. That is why I asked about what format his plans are in.You need to know where you are and what kind of road you are traveling before you can figure out how you are going to get from here to there, right?
