Since I am on this CFL question kick – Is there such a thing as a 3 way CFL?
Some of my floor and table lamps have the 4 position switch to use the 3 way incand. bulbs (like 50-100-150watt) When I put in a CFL it works on 2 parts of the switch (like a regular bulb) and is off for the other 2 positions.
A 3 way CFL would be nice but maybe the technology is not there yet.
Anyone know of a “super CFL” that is both 3-way and dimmable and RF shielded and warm color and doesn’t cost much?
Thanks.

Yep, there are 3-way CFLs. Never tried one to see how well they work, though.
I'm guessing you'd be able to find one at HD or Lowes.
Just got back from HD and the aisle "expert" had no idea what I was talking about and we could not find any on the shelves.
Maybe try Lowe's next time I am there.
Thanks.
I have seen them at HD, but there is quite a bit of churn in the CFL section.

Bugs me to see the churn runnin' around like wildmen anywheres in the Depot.

Says they are available , like Dan said.
I have had a 3-way (not dimmable) for some years now. It works fine, as long as you remember that a CFL takes a while to get to brightness.
I have a pet peeve about 3-way lamp sockets with regular bulbs. Maybe it's my OCD or something but it drives me crazy when I go to rotate the switch and it clicks twice before the light comes on.
When I started switching over to CFL's several years ago, I got my 3-way CFL's at either HD (they don't always have a good selection of them) or my local Ace Hardware. An added bonus is that because they last a lot longer, I don't think I've had an instance of just the "bright" or the "dim" tube failing like they do with regular dual filament bulbs.
