I got the latest issue and was amazed to see there is actually a video out about a 3 bd. 2ba. house built in four hours. So I get online to discover that the 25 minute video cost a whopping $195. yes dollars. twenty-five minutes. Has anybody seen this video. What do you think!?
You would think that if the house only took for hours to build, they would just video the full four hours.

And it was assembled with screws!
Yeah, and they are saying that it even included pouring a slab? Is that even possible? I don't even get on concrete for a day or two.
i think you send 200 and they send you back a tape of a set of steps being pured and a modular home being pulled in and parked, heck that would be hustling. i new a guy that sent in 20.00 on how to be bigger, got back a center fold and a pic of a hand!!!!!i'll probably get deleted for thathand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
deleted for that...?
Why of all the dirty underhanded tricks to pull.
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
That centerfold was a carpenter's picture - a real work of art."What the hand saw"Yuck, yuck.
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
Smooth.....................very smooth.
They showed it at work - corporations can afford this kind of thing, and they are the target audience. All about planning and teamwork. I think there were actually 2 teams racing IIRC. They did it at least once as a practice before the cameras started rolling. Set some kind of Guiness record.
Slab on grade, needless to say, with insta-dry concrete (it's been a while so I don't remember all the details but it did need to dry for 30 min or something).
Blue would approve of the framing approach - boogerin on steroids. All the wall sections and the roof - complete with roofing - were build in the street and monster crane used to place them. Pre-wired, sheathed, etc. Pretty much of a correographed ballet with all the subs in there at the same time.
It was done a while ago - I think it was an inspiration for the Extreme Makeover Home Edition series, at least the techniqes (and quality - LOL).
There, now you can spend the 2 bills at Coastal Tool instead!
Well, I prefer to attend the "Duct Tape Olympics" at a local mall a couple of Sundays from now.
THOSE contestants only get an HOUR!
and admission is free.
did you see that video? How many square foot was the house?
I still don't see how it is possible.
Somebody enlighten me!
It's been a long time, but IIRC it was >1000, <1800 sq ft. 3 & 2 I think or maybe 3 & 1-1/2. Yea, I sure wouldn't want to live there!
I saw a video of a competition like that many moons ago (80's) on the local PBS station.
Slab on grade, cranes everywhere, an army of people, an inspector stayed on site through the whole mess.
Forget the exact location, but I remember it looked arid.
My favorite part was the segment where they had built the roof on the ground including shingling and were lifting it into place with their biggest crane -- huge bow in the ridge, I think I heard the nails popping over the crane noise.
Had some interior shots where guys were mudding drywall about 10' ahead of the painters.
They rolled out sod and planted bushes too.
My wife and I were in the midst of rennovating our first house when this aired, I do remember both of us commenting we would not want to live in the finished product.

Yep, that's the one!
