   40' for me

   I have a werner 40', it's fairly easy to set up. I put the base against something like a house foundation, a tree trunk, whatever...then walk it up. If I have to relocate it, I stand it up straight then walk it to its new location. Do the same to walk it down as I do to raise it.

   Your 48'er will be about 4' longer than my 40. Once you get it going, just don't stop. First time you raise and lower it certainly have some help.

   I used to work on triple-deckers in Massachusetts with a 60' three-section. Sometimes as a 60-footer, sometimes I'd remove a fly and use it as a 40-footer. Don't recall how much that weighed, but with all three sections I used to walk that one up by myself. I never wanted to take it down alone though. If I could, I'd wait for help.

   Massachusetts Triple Deckers

   I worked on the triple deckers in Charlestown.  I was the carpenter's helper so only had to go to the second floor.  But I did have to carry and set up the 44 footer for the painter, who weighed 100 pounds, so he could do the third floor and roof.

   For the price of a new 48 ft ladder, you can probably find an old used bucket truck on ebay or CL for the same price !

   i dont know i would feel comfortable on a bucket truck that cost me less and 1k...think i would rather haul the ladder.
