Here's a who's who....
Allison, my wife
Mulligan...the heir apparent
Brother....my brother
Delaney, my niece and Timmy, my nephew.
Spent the day around our folks pool. Just my wife and I, my folks, my brother and his family, and my Grandfather. What a gorgeous day. Alot of food. Alot of laughs. Couldn't ask for more. We're heading to the fireworks in about ten minutes.
Sigh....back to work tomorrow.
looks like the kind of days we had at my parents' pool... good times..
off to see the fireworks !Mike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore

Katrina and me just got back from my electrician/friends house.
Pretty interesting.most were from Israel and Jorden.
I think I convinced an entire couple to not vote for Bush.
I was on a real role today.lol
Great company and great food.
Maour tried to get me to eat steak but I don't go that route...the more he pushed the steak, the more I put Bush down....was pretty amusing.
And LITE beer???ugh...why bother?
He played horrible Israeli music so I popped the Best of The Red Hot Chili Peppers outta my car CD player and cranked it.
HAd a great time.
Sorry, no pictures cept wuts tatooed under my eyelids.
Mike...your party looked great bro but then again I know how out of the way you go to do the right thing seeing what youre going through for RhodeFest....arent you glad I backed down? lol

"takes me back to my grandfather's farm in Michigan"
Yeah Mike,
Ahh, childhood memories.
Some people don't realize that some people still live on working farms. That one is about 1/2 hour drive from downtown Milwaukee. Lots of goats, pigs, horse's, lama's. cow's, sheep, dogs, cats.......The kids seemed to love it. Pretty much an annual event for us.

Pictures from the annual 4th of July steam engine parade, Cumming Georgia. About thirty of these all with steam whistles. A noisy smoky event
cool... they have a big steam-up at the steam museum here every august....

When I saw the picture about playing in the hay, I wondered if it was really hay, or was actually straw. The names get mixed up a lot. Glad to see you know the difference.
Had those 2 tractors been in a parade? Kinda looked like they were decorated up for one. Pulling a manure spreader in a parade - That's classic redneck. (-:It's always darkest just before it goes pitch black.

Boss,
Ya' move to Wisconsin, and you learn a lot. Just like all about cow tipping, FIB's, bubblers, etc. LOL. And yes, the tractors were in a parade that day.

Yeah, but when your project stretches so long, you lose some of my sympathy.
Speaking of which, where's that sticking door that I have to plane down? I've only know about if for 8 months, honest! <g>

Free,
Yeh but I saw a beer there so it couldnt have been too bad.
The wainscott looks like what I put in my bathroom...Did I notice paint from back priming?
I still think no matter what ya do it separates in a bathroom.
I dont care....I did it again anyway using 3/4" WS this time.
I backprimed with Oil Zinnser....I bet even that won't work.
Katrina wanted me to use beadboard "paneling". No frickin' way!!!
3/4" WS all the way.

we used plybead in the living room ....
mostly hidden behind furniture ... and ... we're dressing up the place to get it on the market sometime in the near future ....
The bath wainscot ... what you saw was 80 year old paint.
I demo'd and saved it from a job a coupla years back ... had just enough good stuff to wrap the bath walls ... it's about 3/8th thick .... had only 2 coats of paint as far as I could tell ... in all that time. I think it started out varnished. Looks to be a straight grain pine ... real tight grain. We're painting it ... so I just put it up dirty and cleaned the face when done. Also have the original cap ... but think I'm going to make something different ... my old plaster walls have some curved corners ... so starting new will probably be the best in the long run.
As to working on a holiday ... and/or weekend ... remember ... I'm self employed ...
those rules go out the door ... had an unplanned week "off" 2 weeks ago ... none of the materials I needed to either start of finish any of the jobs I have to choose from were available ... spent the week sleeping in and then driving around looking for other materials ... started late ... home early ...broke the kid outta daycare real early one afternoon .... that's almost like time off?

Time off?
What bummed me out today was thinking my guys were coming in so I woke at 5:30 AM as usual.
They both called in at 7 saying....Jose said he was sooooooo tired from being up late last night watching fireworks and whatever....Joe called in to say it was pouring by him and he didnt want to dive 45 min here and not have work (we're still doing the perfection roof.)
The plumbers showed at 8 and left at 12.
Thats no day off for me....bummed me out.
Wished everyone would have called me yesterday and said they weren't coming in.
Katrina just announced she didnt wanna make dinner cause our tempo kitchen is disgusting.....Told her I know she hates to cook and the kitch really isnt all that bad.....I mean a $5000 Subzero fridge and a 6 burner gas Viking stove cant be all that bad even if it is dusty down there.
Yeh, the dust suks...flies all over the place from the subs always leaving the doors open....mesquitoes from all the puddles and mud outside giving us west Nile viruses....cobwebs like crazy....birds living in the new three car garage/shop ; )~ cause the doors aint here yet shidding on the new slab....boiling hot in here cause the A/C guys have the attic open in two places for the returns and won't be back till Thursday, rain leaking in the basement and additions cause the tarps suk no matter what, a trillion buckets in our one bathroom (the one with the wainscotting)....
I have no idea why she's complaining....
Know what I mean?
And Jolie has been sleeping at a friends house for four nights.
Geezzzzzz, woman!
Be working 4000 hours a week lately and the one day I supposidly have off, I don't.
: )~

As you probably know, we moved over the weekend. I stopped long enough to take a few shots.
The first shows Carl and my Dad seeing if the fridge is level. You'll notice the women had already taken out all the cow junk DW has and set it out. Most of the dishes and pans were already in the cabinets by that time too. And it wasn't even noon yet.
Next is Chris, my oldest Son. Couldn't take the pressure. Needed a break.
Next is a shot of the street, with our house on the left. You can't tell in the picture, but cars and vans are parked 2 deep at the end of the street. And there are more pickups/vans behind me that aren't in the picture.
The last picture is a bunch of the help waiting for something to do and/or lunch to be served.
