I was looking through and old Disston tool catalog and noticed that they made a 5,6,and7pt crosscut handsaws. These wereonly available in the d-8 version(at least in this catalog). Has anyone ever seen one of these? I know5,5-1/2, and 6 were rip saws, but they have the other ones listed. I acquired a nice collection of handsaws when my Grandfather past away a few years ago and at that time had a guy cut new teeth on three of them. I had a9,11,and 13 made. I am now starting to clean up the rest and if the guy is still in business i am going to have him make me a couple more. I was thinking about a 5 and 7 pt crosscut(one is a 7pt crosscut) and was just curious if anyone else has or has seen one. Do i need them-no but i want them. My grandfather taught me how to sharpen saws and these are great memories of him. I have his saw vise and homemade jointer he made for me.

Have a few of them in the old saw stash (about 50 or so). Do have 3 of Grandpa's old handsaws.
Coarsest crosscut I have is a Disston #196 'docking saw', 3-1/2 pt per inch. I actually use it occasionally.
The 196 is 2nd fromthe top, top is a firewood saw. Threw a few onto a pile for another post awhile back.

Hey, guys. While we're talking about handsaws, which I DO have and use albeit infrequently- Anyone know where to pick up the bolts that attach the blade to the handle? Maybe called sex bolts?
I take them off old garage sale saws where the blade is so badly rusted and pitted the saws sell for $1 or even 50 cents.
Good idea, Art. Thanks.
McMaster -Carr has them as well.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Thanks. Knowing McMaster-Carr will probably have a BUNCH of different sizes!
When I started my apprenticeship I had two saws in the brand new toolbox. An 8 point crosscut and a 5 1/2 point ripsaw. I aquired two more of the same from an apprentice that dropped out. My uncle who filed his own saws, sharpened one of my ripsaws into a 5 1/2 point crosscut. I still use this saw occasionally. I could cut small timbers like 6x6's fast, most times not worth setting up a skilsaw for a few timbers.
