I’ve switched over completely to impact drivers and have a whole bunch of non-impact drive tips cluttering my kit. They are the type you generally use with a magnetic holder in the chuck of your drill.
Free to good home. Reply here, then email me your mailing address and I’ll stick ’em in an envelope. You get extra points for being an earnest young apprentice or midlevel tradesperson climbing the ladder, but hey, I really just want someone to use these.

Don't cha still use the mag holder in the impact? I do.
I LOVE the Hitachi #10 Counter sink bit with a hex shank, I do a zillion pop rivets when guttering, and the impact is way faster than any of my drills.
Just bought the Bosch Lith Ion 10 volt driver, I wish I didn't, way too slow at 500 rpms. I'll give it to the wife for her projects, it ain't gonna cut it on the job.
Good luck finding a home for your tips, I have more than plenty, but I am sure some one will appreciate your kindness.

I don't use a mag holder in my impacts, I just chuck the longer drive tips with the notch. Almost everything I use is either square or star drive and they stick just fine with no magnet. Once in a while I use a mag holder for longer reach.
Got DW her own $70 9.6v drill. She kept getting my keys and going thru the toolboxes on my truck, taking out my stuff and using it. Unbelievable, isn't it... the nerve.
Yeah, LOL the nerve.
I use mostly 2 and 3'' screws for box gutter carpentry, I like the mag with the extra mag at the collar, I just stab into my pouch and, I have a screw stuck. OR the "finder type sleeves" with the slide doo-dad. To each his own I guess.
I can't get my coworker sold on the torx drives yet, he is still in #2 Phillips/ combo sq. drive land, so that is what we have been using. At home and my side jobs, I like the Torx trim heads or SS #1 sq.drive. Or my air guns, we almost never have air on the job, we screw about 99.5% of everything, cept the nails for tabs on copper pans, those have to be copper roofers, and no one collates them AFAIK.
I just reorganized yesterday, I have 17 mag holders! One is a long Makita, with a 1/4" hex duct taped to it for blind gutter hangers, one is that goofy Oring type, which has a knurled cap you need to remove to switch bits, but the damm thing will let the bit OUT ( stuck in a screw head) but you have to take it apart to re-insert...I don't know why I still have it. Maybe give that to the wife too...( evil grin).
And to top it all off, I just bought my 22nd set of bits, drivers in a case, Hitachi Again,, I have DW, B&D, Mak, Bosch, Irwin, and some other that are so far used up I can't tell. It seems every trip to the store, I wind up with a new index or box of drivers, gotta quit doing that. Just wait, XMAS is coming, wanna bet what I get?
Now for the drills/drivers...14. Yup. I use 3 at work all day, the rest are scattered about and whenever I grab one, it has a dead batt. What are those odds? Oh, OK pretty damm good. (G)
Hey, if you find a wanter for the bits you are giving away, and it is a good home, I'll even throw in a 12V PC drill/lite, 2 batts and charger! Same deal..Free. Howzat sound?

Wow, the offer gets better and better ;-)
I'm interested. Not a young guy anymore though, mid 40's. Have been out of the trade for a while, getting back into it after a layoff and bad job market. I could get a lot of good use from this stuff, but if there is someone that needs it more, that's OK.
Thanks.
Looks like Stilletto beat ya to the punch, sory about that, but first come, first serve generally is the norm for this type of deal.

Sphere, you wouldn't happen to have a 12v DW bat that still works that you want rid of do you?
Maybe I should just heave that drill out but it worked for me for a year or so.
Ron
I have a good one if you need one.
Send me an email and I will send it to you.
All I have left is one battery and a charger. Drill broke the other day.Friends help you move.
Real friends help you move bodies!
You mean the long battery type? Yup. Ya want the whole drill and one battery and a charger?
The other battery crapped a few yrs ago, this one probly ain't far behind, but the charger is pretty new. Dog pisssed on the original one.

Man, what a place this is! Batteries coming at me out of everywhere. I'll take em both with many thanks. I don't need charger or drill. If I had had any sense I would have thrown the drill away a year ago but it sits on the floor beside my workbench making me feel guilty that I can't put it to work. A 12 v isn't worth buying batteries for either.
Bstcrpntr, shipping costs are mine, of course.
Sphere, want to call it square? I haven't yet sent off that other tool to you. I was waiting for a box the right size - large pizza. Got it now.
Ron
Wellllllll....here is the deal. Take it all PLEASE. If I send just the battery, I have a useless charger and drill.
Deal?

I assume that's the DeWalt he is talking about?
I could still use a PC drill and/or flashlight, but I assume those are gone by now and that worked out with Stilleto.
Thanks.
I dug out the mess from under a bench in my shop. The Batteries leaked out all over the contacts, so they are trash. I dunno if the drill, or light suffered any damage or if the charger is harmed in any way...but if ya really wanna be adventurous, I'd send ya stuff, but I think it all is only good for parts.
So, as it looks I have a charger a drill and a lite..no batts ..yes, this the PC we're talking about.
As far as the DW goes, I have one batt, one drill, one charger up for grabs..the old long skinny 12v drill.
I guess if ya have the PC batteries already, the drill and lite might work, but no telling for sure. I'd not bother buying new batts..2 12v PC batts cost almost as much as a new set-up from any maker.
Tell me if ya stil want the parts.
I gotta wait till Ron tells me about the DW drill, he is swapping a tool for me.

Got my DW a cordless too, now she gets my keys and goes thru my tool boxes looking for her drill, should have bought her a cheaper one so I would not use it.
What this means is that you need to upgrade your stuff to the hot new Li-Ion gear. Then she can have all your old stuff. Maybe set her up as a division of the company.
McFeely's sells most standard bits in lengths up to 6". They're really handy. And for some reason I can figure out (but don't dare complain about) they're the same price as the normal 2" size bits. Just thought I'd let you know because I thought it was a good find and sometimes it's nice working with a longer bit, like when you're screwing down decks or you don't want to mess up a piece of hardware with a spinning chuck or something.View Image
Just bought the Bosch Lith Ion 10 volt driver, I wish I didn't,
Ya, don't ya hate when that happens. I did the same.
Bet you opened an email from HDT that said $95 and you decided to jump before it got away. Then it arrived and you said, well...
My first impression was the same ya, kinda wish I hadn't bought this thing, but it still holds a charge better than my 12volt Panasonic so there are worse evils in the world.

Actually, we are doing a really wierd type of gutter, it is reg 6'' half round, but the hangers are cast brass ( heavy MO FO's) and have a 4" SS 5/16'' LAG bolt, AND 2 @ 2" 1/4'' HEX HEAD SS screws, then a 5/32" SS bolt and nut...I promise, I'll post pics tomorrow..I hadda walk 1/4 mile with tools , to get there today..tooo muddy to drive in, and I wasn't adding the camera to my package.
Any who.I bought at Lowes, at 129.00 or so, thinking it'd be cool..I have my MAK, My 2 DWS ( rt angle is needed for the lags, cuz of the circle hanger) The MAK is impact for the 2 inchers, and drilling for the godzillion rivets, these have radiused end caps, 5 rivets each, and I thought ( wrongly) that the Bosch being little, ( wheeny drill we call them, yes, Dale bought one also) would be handy...I am not impressed.
Hey, while I gotcha here, Jim didn't make it..( Dulcimer guy). He went flat right after the anathiesiologist cranked up the gas, the wife is a mess...I shoulda got it sooner, but I can't disturb her with his posessions ( even tho' I will get many) Lets let the waters clear for a spell, it is yours, but right now, there is a tizzy in NC.

Oh, BTW...it is supposed to HOLD a charge for 18 MOS? This I gotta see.

I'd forgotten about it.
I think the Panasonic 12 volt will hold for 18hours unless you use it.

I have two. And a flashlight. Doug Upah sent them to me.=0)Even though I now have a "new to me" makita set from Dieselpig, (Fantastic set !!), I still love the PC drills and flashlight. (The flashlight was quite literally a lifesaver the very day I got it.)If I accepted yours, I'd be doing so only to have backups to my backups. I think you should keep them yourself. You never know when the day will come when you need one, and one of the PC 12v will be the only thing available...

No prob. just thought I'd throw it in mix.
If I need a back up, I lite a smoke, and watch it burn ( after I get the dog and cats and wife out)...and use a line I missed when my shop cooked, " Damm, what a fire".

I've haven't heard from you, and someone else replied, so off they go...
David,
I did sent an e-mail through here, maybe you didn't get it? either way, no big deal.
I'm sure they're going to a good home ;)
Mucho apreciado David...Just got the bits yesterday, and they are already at work. Where do you find impact tips? I don't think the crew I was working for ever used impact tips in their Makita impacts. The day will come when I'll get one, so it would be nice to know if it makes a big difference.
This is the type I use in my Dewalt impacts. Having the extra length is nice, and having the detent so it stays in the tool is mandatory. You can also use a magnetic holder with a detent and then use whatever tips you want. I have found that these tips chucked directly in the tool are just right ergonomically.
