Is there a fan available that would go in the a/c duct close to the ceiling vent to help move the air? Seems like if I could get a little more cfm, then the room would feel more comfortable. The air coming out of the vent feels cool enough.
I’m sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.

Hi
I am visiting from CT, one of my other interests, but since I happen to have installed one a while back here is my take.
Yes, there are fans which install either in the duct, or right behind the grill. They certainly will increase the airflow into the room, and if this is the reason that the room is not heating / cooling enough then you will be more comfortable. I added a fan which I spliced into a flex duct. The fan exactly fits into the 8" round duct.
However, there is no free lunch. These fans are somewhat noisy. I wound up adding a speed controller to slow it down somewhat which reduced the noise level but of course I get less air flow. It is still better than what I had before.
Another thing to consider, how are you planning on powering the fan? For A/C the fan usually is kept on continuously. For heating, you only want the fan when the heater is actually working. I didn't want to (couldn't) cut into the wiring for the fan since it is a multi speed fan, and depending on what speed setting it was on, the fan would go on a random basis! I also didn't want to cut into the electronic do to warrantee issues. I wound up putting in an air pressure sensor of the type used in commercial installations. The added air pressure when the main fan goes on triggers the additional fan. There are also electronic sensors which will detect if the main fan is on, you still need to run a power line between the main A/C fan, and the secondary fan. I am not sure, but I do not belive that the NEC allows wires to be run in the ducts!
Before you do all this, check to see if there is an easier / better solution. Are there sharp bends in the ducts? Can an additional duct be added?
I had no choice, since the duct has an unavoidable bend, and runs through a VERY tight area. These fans should really only be regarded as a solution of last resort.
