I insulated some a/c’ s with insulating foam. i got a callback saying that the units were overheating and blowing the breakers. when i went to start digging the foam out, i noticed that the filters and fins were filthy. the only place i foamed were the sides. has anyone run into this problem? I thought the only areas you couldn’t seal off were the front and back and bottom.

What kind of foam?
Where? What part of the AC SYSTEM?
hilti low expansion. i dug some of them out and the one type had louvers. the foam didnt cover them, so im thinking with the old sleeve around it, it needed all the air it could get. even from inside.
I think you are talking about window shaker units, no?
The filthy fins could be part of the problem. As could the HO running undersized extension cords to them. I think we need more info.
