This time last year my family and I were coming into the home stretch of a 2000 S.F. addition to a home we bought in Jan of 2003. The addition comprised a great room, kitchen, utility room, master suite, and guest bedroom. It was all I could do to get us in before Christmas. Actually my wife and I moved our bed into our room Christmas eve. Needless to say, there was no time to go out on our annual x-mas tree hunt. So with a few wood scraps , dowels and a little seasonal inspiration this is what I came up with. (tree-03 & treeb-03). Not much, but at least we had our tree!
Happy to say, a year has gone by, the addition is 99% complete. We started phase two in June of this year which was the gutting and remodel of the existing 1600 S.F. of existing house. This phase is 90% complete.
This year we have a real tree! (tree-04 & treeb-04) And I have to say, last years tree was also real !!
Maybe my most favorite tree of all !
Merry Christmas to all !!

I like your '03 tree, also........Addition looks mighty fine......
2 years ago we were out in Tucson for Christmas and our friends had an agave tree taken from the yard and decorated with SW ornaments......We are going to be there this Christmas, but they have moved to a new home.......That tree 2 years ago was a stunner.....
Congratulations on your hard work.......

I too didn't mind the 03 tree. The view on the other hand sux!
Looks like ya did good on the addition, got anymore of them pix?
Some of the old German homes had what was essentially a broom handle stuck into a base, then they would stick pine branches into it(similar to your dowel tree). I have an antique one back in storage. They would build neat little picket fences around the base, kinda primitive, but cool. So is your 03 tree.
