My clients bought a historic home in the Palouse section of the PNW about 20 years ago. One day they were walking around outside and said ‘What lovely stained glass windows. Why can’t we see them from in the dining room? During a prior ‘renovation’ somebody had just removed the VG Douglas Fir trim and just sheetrocked over them. Before I got involved, their favorite roofer can in and tore away some sheetrock. I am attaching pictures of what it looked like when I got to it.
I cut back the sheetrock to square things up and had to replicate the Douglas Fir trim. Working with really nice VG fir is a real pleasure. They had painted the room when they bought, and SW has changed all of their formulations, but the color-matching system worked well. The intervening years had changed the sheen of the eggshell paint, so I had to do a total repaint on a couple of walls to make it ‘go away.’
They should all be this much fun, especially working with clients who just want it done well.

Nice job and it turned out well! I sure miss doing quality work on old houses. Every day is another puzzle to work out.
Having started out with a 1929 home, and doing remod since 1981, there are two sayings in our home:
When you open that wall you will seldom find hidden perfections.
When you buy an old house you learn the meaning of the work "infinite."
Live in a 1903 Queen Anne, and infinite is a way of life.
Wow - what a find.
