A little scrap wood, a little time.

Gunner | Posted in Photo Gallery on February 29, 2004 05:25am

The weather was nice so I decided to clean up the shop. Of course that lasted about a minute. I got to looking at this old steel cabinet that I’ve been storing my power tools in, and decided that with some good shelving made out of left overs I could make a pretty decent little tool cabinet. I built the shelves so they have a spacer underneath to tuck the cords in. This way I don’t have them all tangled together on top. I got the idea from Wood central I think but I may be wrong. Anyway it was a day of puttering and listening to NPR.

P.S. the second picture with the door closed didn’t turn out to well. Something got on the lens.

Looks a lot like I use, but mine was a real safe.  Nobody else at the auction wanted it, with the hole chiseled in the back.  Separate shelf for cords..... hmmmm...

This is an old cabinet that was used for railroad signal relays. You know how you see them at railroad crossings? Well back in the eighties we did a rehab on the Deleware and Hudson railroad in New York and I hauled that home. It's kind of gotten pushed back in the corner and forgotten about untill now.  My next goal is to build a swing out plywood rack.

Last Wed. we filled a Fourty or fifty yard dumpster full of old safes that had been taken out of the bottoms of  old ATMs. We had them piled everywhere. I thought about taking one of them home and using it but then I remembered my pledge to stop dragging stuff home. And besides this works just fine and it's already there.

The hole in the back of yours is more then likely for wire for security devices.Who Dares Wins.

Must be I have a little more room than you do.  Our place is often used as a clearinghouse for construction related material.  Comes and goes.  I was relieved when somebody offered to haul off the yellow-paned windows from a local church remodel.  Got that sinking feeling when I showed up to load them, sight unseen.  30- 4'x4' sliders.  If that shed ever gets built, it'll be eerie with yellow glass illumination.

Anybody interested in Kalwall water tubes?  1'x8'.  I've got a bunch.

I doubt it.  Roughly 6"x8" and obviously cut with a cold chisel with no care as to the results, other than making a hole.  This safe long pre-dated electronic devices.PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!

Something like that.  These were mass for an ill-conceived solar application, actually the back wall.

I'm psychot... er, I mean, psychic.

I am working on getting a psychic sub-group to the ministry going. Figure if it gets going strong enough, I'll eventually develop a real following. Groupies and all. Think I'll call the groupies my "psy chics".

        Checked out that webx link.

It's not like an actual copy of the old board. Just a collection of enough files to make a ghost image of it. There, but not all there, you know...

Put it in my favorites so I can go back and surf through the few files that I was able to find. A little over 3000 files. A lot of those seem to be posts. But you can't tell what forum the post is from until you open the file. (Could be from CT, or BT, or Knots, etc...)

I'll surf in the down times, and see if I can find a few old posts important enough to save to hard drive.

Wish I had a spider utility or something like that that would just download all of what's there, and let me pick through it from my hard drive. The files would all come up immediately that way, instead of me waiting forever for each file to load when I click on it.

If I survive, I have survived.

But if I have enriched someone else's life, I have succeeded.

Put https://www.finehomebuilding.com in the link box and it will come up with the magazines old website. from there go into the woodshed tavern and you get more workable links. I've been able to cojure up the ghost of the Blue eyed devil that way. When I get more time I'm going to track down boogering with blue. It's like one of those dreams when you go back to high school.Who Dares Wins.

            Gunner,

Thanks for the links.  I hope you can find "Boogerin with Blue".  That was probably my favorite thread ever.

I recently upgraded to an 80gb hard drive.  Since I have the computer equivalent to a 150'x600' warehouse, I've started saving copies of good threads.  I wish that had been done from the start.
