On another thread I was asking about what wood to use to fabricate some sashes. I’m following Jim Blodget’s advice of taking the good stock out of standard 2x12s. Stop me now Jim, if i’m making a mistake 🙂
Now I’m trying to cut the radius. I scribed a template from the existing sash (one of them) but cutting it freehand on my bandsaw proved to be a challenge. What I need to do is set up a jig.
The sash is 8′ wide and protrudes 7 3/4″ at the center. Anyone know the formula for the radius?

Thanks big time J Fusco - I'm going to make the cuts in the morning. I'm also going to study up on my construction math :)

Hold on there Trooper! Hope this isn't too late. If you need that wide of solid stock, I sure hope you took V.G. rippings off the edges of a few boards and glued them together to get the width you needed. I sure wouldn't want to see any curved grain rings when I looked at the endgrain.
