Johnny, I'm impressed. How'd it go? Did you practice on something or just go for it? The saw cuts came out great. Joe H
*It was one of those balls to the walls type without any finish idea in mind. This method is so unpredictable, thank god I did it for me, instead of the woman. You never know final color till final rinse. The color mainly depends on the cement content in the concrete mix.
*Johnnie: Looks great!I've seen your posts on Acidstain.com .What did you decide to use as a top coat? Are you going to grout the score lines or leave them as is? How did the footprints turn out?I am planning to acid stain in a few months. Do you have any advice based on your experience?Keep posting pics of your progress! Thanks,Woodrow
*Looks great, Johnnie!
*The grout line will be a dark brown or black what ever I can find. top coat not sure, it will be a solvent something. The concrete finisher footprint and the red chaulk lines wad hidden real good but I step in the acid and left a rubber boot print. Black on tan.
*Johnnie, Very cool! You are giving me ideas for my garage floor which has some settleing cracks. I could make the saw cuts. How much a sq. ft. does the acid job usually run?
*Excellent Johnnie. Looks like expensive tile. Can you give us a play-by-play of how to do this? How do you get the sawcuts to the walls?
*Johnnie,Great looking floor!! When you were doing the work, did you encounter anything unexpected or did it work out just like the Kemiko how-to video said it would?
*First, I sawed cut before laying block. Second color no where close to what they say, still looks good. The major imperfection was no big deal. Worst part of all, rubber boot prints will staining. Clean, clean, clean somemore. 90% of time is cleaning I spend three weekend (6 days) sanding with a floor buffer to hide one concrete finisher tennis shoe mark, got mad a hit it with a hand grinder three minute later was gone, That area nevered came through stain. look good. The video, never got, did it by seat of pants, real easy. Sherwin Williams has the correct sealer
*the feet print
*that foot print is in bottom right corner about 1 1/2 right of tub blockout
*Johnnie, it looks great. What color were you expecting it to be? Darker? More uniform tan? Is this the finish coat sealer? I'll bet when you have the house done it'll look great. If my first try came out this well I'd be a happy camper. Joe H
