What is the general consensus on active garage venting? I live in a hot, humid climate (central Texas) and I have an embedded garage – the 2nd floor living area is above the garage. The garage is finished and does have insulation in the ceiling, however when I come home and park my 3000 pound heater it gets obscenely warm, far warmer than the outside temperature. The abundance of heat lasts until the wee hours of the morning. I can’t help but think this affects portions of the house that I spend lots of money keeping cool.
Would fan-assisted venting help? I have no existing holes to add a fan to, except the vent pipe for the gas water heater, but I want to make sure it would be useful before cutting a hole in the side of my house.

I had a rooftop fan in my garage for a long time, but got rid of it with the latest reroof (had ridge vent put on) because keeping the fan running was a PITA.
You at least don't have the sun beating down on the garage roof like I do. That's where most of the heat comes from.
