Hi All, I’m having issues with the drawings for an addition I am building. They are for new bathrooms being added to a golf course clubhouse. Most of the problems I am having are with the dimentions shown are not complient with ADA regulation. Now, so far I have caught all of them, I think. My drawing is showing a stairway from the first floor down to the basement which is only going to be used for storage. The drawing used regular residential dimentions for the stairs. Needless to say they were built, installed and then failed. Major changes would need to be made to accommodate a set of stairs with the compliant 7″ rise and 11″ run. Before these changes are made I need to know the min. width of compliant stairs. My drawing has 46 1/2″ between the walls. My understanding is they neet to be 48″ between the handrails. Am I wrong? I hope so. If not since the inspector won’t pass them even though I have a set of approved drawings. What can I do? Never had this issue, please addvise. Thanks in advance for any input, Ed
