This old house is cold in the winter, even when the air is warm. Lack of insulation in the walls makes it like living in a warm igloo when it gets Chicago-in-January cold. I’ve thought of having fiberglass blown into the walls, but since there is no vapor barrier, I’m concerned about growing a fresh crop of funk in the walls. Is it adequate to use a vapor blocking primer like BIN (shellac) on the walls, or will water vapor find it’s way around it via the ceiling, through the floors & joists, etc. I think there was an article in one of the 1987 articles of FHB, but I don’t have it.
Thanks,
Scott
