Adding insulation over vinyl backed insulation
We are wanting to create living quarters inside of our metal building. our main concern is that the building is already insulated with a vinyl backed insulation (the vinyl is on the inside of the building so the new insulation would be placed against it). The current insulation isnt a high enough R value for a home in our zone. What options do we have for adding rock wool insulation to up the R value?

Where installing faced fiberglass on the inside, over an existing layer of faced insulation, the traditional approach has been to slash the facing (essentially a corner-to-corner X) of the existing stuff. I've no idea how effective this actually iss.
