Adding supply venting to a valley area in my roof…
Good Morning:
Live in Northern New Jersey, and I own a home which they call around this area a sugar maple split.
Essentially, one half of the house, contains a basement, and other half doesn’t.
The half (let’s call it the right half) that contains the basement, it’s top floor, is comprised of a full double dormer which has a gable roof, with a vaulted ceiling in it’s interior. It’s essentially one self contained room with no access to the other parts of the house, unless you leave via it’s staircase. This double dormer’s gable roof, is perpendicular to the other half (let’s call it the left half) of house’s gable roof, they form a valley from the front to back of the house where they both connect.
Both left and right halvves of the roof system contain ridge vents, and the right half, has it’s own supply vents, in the form of soffits.
But the left half of the roof, at this time, only has one supply vent, instead of the two, that’s required because the valley itself is preventing me from putting any form of supply venting in that area.
Does anyone know of a way to add supply venting in this valley area. The left side of the house (aka attic) is fiberglass insulated on the floor of the attic, and the areas between rafters has the appropriate baffles.
I have attached two detailed diagrams of the structure of my roof, along where the problem area is located.
Thanks,
Amado
