I live in rhode island and was wondering how much per square foot it would cost me to have an addition built from start to finish.
The house is only about fifteen years old and it is in good shape. The addition would probably include hardwood floors. I heard one bid from a contractor and he told me about $120.00/sq. foot. If anyone could tell me if this is a good price or give me any input I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks alot!

sf. price will not tell you anything... and it doesn't sound like you got a "bid".. you had a conversation...with nothing binding..
unlesss you are willing to abide by all of the same specs as whatever builder you were talking to used on the example he was discussing ... then sf is of no use to you..
when we discuss additions we give examples and say.. " THIS addition was $xxx..
this next addition was $yyyy..
.does your addition include heat, bathrooms, kitchens ? landscaping...foundation work , painting ?...
how about a ballpark.. are we going to McCoy... or Fenway ?

Like Mike said, somewhere between $55 and $400 sounds about right.
I agree with these two goofballs. It's like asking "what will it cost me to fix up my truck?"

I have to disagree with you three goofballs and admit that I sympathize with the original poster.
Last November I bought a new car and it cost me about $28,000. I just saw a car commercial and they said their car cost $14.000. I think I overpaid.
Dang.
Almost twice too much! Jeff * Jeff J. Buck/ Buck Construction/ Pittsburgh, PA *

I either agree or disagree with all the goofballs. My car cost more per cubic foot than my truck. Each were about twice too much, so Jeff's got it right.
Mike of course is on target. All that counts is $x for features y. You can do the $/sf math after all is done and paid, but it's more as a curiosity than to be informative.
