Huber isn’t the only one anymore with the high-density special-binder OSB. At least a couple others are making products that compete with Advantech.
But, that said, if you feel that there are superior advantages or benefits to be gained by using this stuff as roof or sidewall sheathing, please speak up, and state your reasons why.
Remember, I am not talking here about floor sheathing. Just roofs and sidewalls.

"doesn't swell or flake"
or delaminate.
That about sums it up. Good stuff.
As a bit of a side bar.... Another thing I'm noticing more and more, is that HO's are getting more hip to structural building products on the market. I've heard them specifically ask for brand names like Silent Floor, Plytanium (junk IMHO), and of course, Advantek. Good or bad, people like the idea of a brand name that they recognize. Doesn't mean diddly to the original question but it is an interesting point.
Using high quality brand names can enhance an image.
Problem comes when the name is based on big dollar advertising instead of quality. Then the customer asks specificly for some junk like Therma Tru doors, LP siding, or Bare Brain paints, and I have to re-educate them

First that came to mind was Thompsons. I could make and sell an equally effective protective film using paint thinner mixed with diesel, and throwing in a little recycled beer for color... :-)

Piffin ,
Is the louisiana Pacific siding you refer to the masonite type product that's been around for thirty years?
If it is, it used to be sold in Canada under the brand name "Colour-Lok" or something like that. It lasts forever.

Having lived next door to an LP plant and seen what it does and it's business practices, and seen several product failures, I have an organic disrespect for anything with the name LP on it.
Sorry for the hijack, Mr. Dylan

blueBe cautious when taking any advice from me. Although I have a lifetime of framing experience, some of it is viewed as boogerin and not consistent with views of those who prefer to overbuild everything...including their own egos!
I am bumping this up to see if anyone has information.
If Huber's Advantech OSB can command the nice price premium, awarding its dealers, distributors, and Huber, with larger cashflows into the margins, then why haven't Huber's competitors stepped up with a competing product?
Who are those competitors and which are their products that compete with Advantech?
