Has anyone heard of Alcoa brand of residential hot air furnace/AC? Its name is new to me and internet mentions none, although Alcoa company seems to be into everything. Can I take it at a face value if a mechanical contractor says that although brand names may be different, the inner parts are generally made by GE. What is your experiences in giving the home-buyer a brand-name product? Thanks to all, again.

Never heard of this one and couldn't find anyone that has. Not a good sign. Google hasn't either.
"Can I take it at a face value if a mechanical contractor says that although brand names may be different, the inner parts are generally made by GE.?" No and No. You will find some manufactures put different nameplates on the same product (i.e. Carrier and Bryant are essentially the same product) but Trane makes Trane and Carrier makes Carrier. Some of the lesser known products are made by someone else.
"What is your experiences in giving the home-buyer a brand-name
product?" Better than saving a few bucks on something never heard of before. There is a lot of competition in this market and most major manufacturers offer very similar products at competitive prices. If you find something significantly cheaper than the "majors", good chance thaat you will get what you pay for, i.e. a lesser product. If it were my house I would get Heil. Other brands of good quality and reputation are: Armstrong, Lennox (same company) Ruud, Rheem, Bryant, Carrier, Trane, American Standard, Luxaire and York(last choice).
Again and again, thank you.
