If this offer is still open, I could email you a prepaid UPS label to ship them. I would just need the address they would be shipped from, the total weight, and the dimensions of the box they are to be shipped in. Thanks, Ric
Ric,
Yes the issues are available.
It is going to be about 4 or 5 boxes.
Sounds like I don't fully understand the quantity of magazines we are talking about if it takes 4 to 5 boxes. I'm new to FHB, just started reading them in the library this year. As I understand it, there are 6 issues per year. Let's say we went with a Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box which is 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and ships for $12.65. I don't have any FHB mags in the house so tried measuring 6 Popular Science mags and they came out a thickness of 1/2" so maybe up to 33 mags would fit in a 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" box if FHB is about the same thickness.
How many magazines are we talking about and what are the date ranges? Would you consider shipping just the most recent 5 years or how many ever happen to fit in 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" box? I'll also call USPS on Monday to check the "Media Mail / Book" rate and see how that works.
Thanks, Ric
Ric
last 5yrs?
you're kidding right?
FHB started in 80 or so.
You know, last century.
You'll be missing the most and the best. Don't shortchange yourself.
Ric:
I have about 250 issues. I just measured 50 of them and it is about 12 1/2" thick so maybe it is 5 or 6 boxes. If you do not want them I have been thinking of donating to the local trade school. I am sure that shipping cost will be significant.
Steve.
Ric:
I meant 5 - 6 boxes the size of milk crates, which is what I am using now. And heavy.
Steve, you might want to weigh one of those crates to get an estimated total weight.
Ok, now I understand. I love the magazine and definitely want them, but it's possible the shipping from the East coast to the West coast will be too much for me. I'll talk to USPS on Monday about the "Media Rate" to get a better feel of costs.
I'm most interested in learning more about "tight", "super-insulated", "passive house" style construction. We are located out in the middle of podunk and the nearest library threw away their archives of FHB a couple of months ago. I was sad to walk in the library and find them all gone (they only had maybe 2 years of archives to begin with).
Thanks, Ric
Next!
If Ric passes, I'll drive over and pick em up this week.
Mongo
Okay, sounds good, let's see what happens with Ric.
Ric
i don't know, he put me on ignore for informing him of the FHB lengthy history and what a shame if your collection was broken up.
it'd be cheaper for him to by the cd of all issues (if available).
Ignore?
TO CALVIN: Not sure if this was directed at me, but if it is please know that I did not "put you on ignore"...........don't even know how to do that.
TO: STEVESANFORD: I really appreciate your consideration, but after talking to USPS it appears the cost of shipping will be too high.
Thanks, Ric
Ric
My apologies.
You certainly didn't and as it turns out, I had you on ignore.
similar to your question, I didn't think I had done that.........
I can only attribute it to hitting some button unintentionally while this screen loads and hops all over the place.
yet one more thing Taunton can take care of if they put their mind to it.
Am real sorry!
USPS shipping
I really appreciate your consideration, but after talking to USPS it appears the cost of shipping will be too high.
Okay Mongo it looks like Ric has passed on this so you are up.
