Um.....not to pick nits here, but.....shipping PLUS $25 is not free.

He said in the other thread that the 25 dollars is for the work in boxing them up, etc.And if you think about it, it is more than a bit of work finding the right boxes, getting them packed, and taking them to the shipper.I think that if he decides to donate them to Quittintime for an auction, the extra 25 dollars should be added to the shipping, etc, for anyone who bids on them.....
Terms are as he calls 'em.
We would start out with 25 plus shipping.
That is, If................A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

Seems a reasonable enough request to me.....but it still aint free.

It's funny - I sold all my FH and JLCs here, and the going price on both sales just coincidentally covered shipping - which was over $100 to the boxes that went to Cananada.

i will buy them if still available. just let me know how you want to handle it. thanks.
I willstop at the post office and inquire rates. I think I can get a book rate.
BenTN
I can't believe what I'm reading here. Basically giving them away???
That's like giving away a complete collection of Playboy or Penthouse! It just aint right. I thought for sure the full collection of FHB was worth something. What is that dating from what year? How many issues is that? I figured the complete collection is a collectors item for sure.
Oh well.. that's just plain depressing.
I agree, they should be auctioned off at quittin time. Maybe split the profits. ~ Ted W ~
Cheap Tools! - MyToolbox.netMeet me at House & Builder!
The reason for my $300 worth of FHB going to $0 is that I found three other people who where giving them away. Lets be realistic, I need the money but like I said, lets really be realistic!BenTN
Put them on quittin' time auction and split the final bid.
be a win win win situation
You know that was totaly uncool of Eric or whoever started that quitintime deal. You put stuff up for charity because you want to. The guys never been to quitentime and probably doesn't care. Get off his case about it.

Yo Gunner, lets put an end to it. Forget I suggested it and you know me-anytime something comes along that I can talk 'em out of to benefit somebody, something or that site-I'm on it. I didn't want to insult the guy so for sure cover his expenses. I just saw it as an opportunity. My apologies, I'm not trying to make him look bad which he isn't-the deal he offers is proof of that.
So that's that, now I'm on the lookout for the next victim.......A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

Hey Cal, you're doing good. Don't let them bring you down. Baseball season is upon us and I've got two new stadiums to checkout. Say hi to Joyce for me.
No problems, I'm not too easily down, cuz
"How can you laugh when you know I'm down?"
runs through my head often......
If Ben gets the time and wishes us to run the auction-I'm game.
Wonder what storm ravaged town he's working around. He mentioned first responder-might be a volunteer fireman or EMT.
I'm getting a feeling here.
Wonder what worthy cause is down there that might need a small hand? This has the makings of a real meaningful Auction.
Hey Ben, how bout some more information on what it is you are doing and where?
thanks.
Joyce says hey-we sat in the front office seats at the Hens stadium last nite. They'd be 2500.00 per in Yankeeville.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

I'd rather not shell out $2500, hoping the BIL lawyer takes me soon.
Right now I've got hockey on the mind and will be at the Gardens Monday night.
someone p i s s in your cheerios this morning?
It was tongue in cheek jokey suggestion.
Looks like it may take hold.

Hold up there slick. Why would you post it tongue in cheek? Really tell me why. You were trying to punk him into it. Seems like it worked out for you.

I see someone has already spoken for them. If they back out let me know. I'd love to have them.
I think Calvin did more goading than I.
I was looking out for QT. That was the intent of my suggestion.
I see how the rag sales go here. Not always a lot of interest esp at the original asking price.
Now get ur a s s over to qt and put in your bid!

I'm not bidding on them at QT. Why do you think you can tell people what to do?

Hey Ben, just saw where you recently joined up for Breaktime on April 15

Are you a longtime reader of FineHomebuilding and found out about the forum thru the mag or what?
Glad yer here.
Cheershalf of good living is staying out of bad situations
I'm 56 and have read every single issue of FHB probably twice. But I am retiring from life to watch over my 89 yr old dad, mother and aunt and uncle who are all in reletively bad shape. Their money and my hard work so they can live another 12 yrs more. This is happenning in October and I have a huge collection of building books, design books, you get the picture. The books are going with me but the FHB's are going to be sold. As a side light, my dad has every issue of FWW and makes flintlock rifles from scratch, with the silver inlay and such. I have his first rifle he made and it will be with him when he dies.
Now I need some info if you can help. I was told to comtact someone with QT. I assume its quit'in time, How can I sell my copies of FHB to the greatest benefit of FHB and QT???? I had someone that would "take them off my hands" but that is going to cost about $100 in postage plus $25 hadling.
Later, BenTN
Ben, I'm the one from Quittintime. I'll email you through Breaktime and we'll figure this thing out.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

work hard, play harder
if it's going to Quittin Time some of us might be inclined to pay real money for them knowing soem of the porceeds will go to financial support of QT.
John, let me know more information. Check QT for me and see if there is interest please. As a first responder I am tied up right now with tornado relief and damage assessment. Thanks,
BenTN
there's going to be an interest, things have done well there before but it's really up to you. Talk to Calvin about it and do what you feels best for you.
O.K., talk to Calvin.Later LOL
Not that it matters here, but i had learned the is no book rate to Canada. What, don't those Canucks READ?
