I own and operate a repair shop and am a authorized service center status for many of the tools that you all are talking about. And, there is one common thing with all tool manufactures and that is all of them have good tools that are well made and all have tools that are junk and sometimes one of the good tools will get bad parts and won’t be worth a tinkers dang. Although there are some tool manufactures that pay more attension to detail, none of them do it all the time. Also, most all of the tools that are made by which ever company and they have there name on it does not follow that they made it. It just means that there name is on it and that is true with all of the companys. thats not saying that all of their tools are made by some shadow company, just some. Now the parts that go into the tools, there is olny so many companys in the US that make switches/motors/gears ect. so guess what, thats right makita buys from the same company that bosch and some of the other companys buy from just the same as I buy from these companys. so when it comes down to buying a tool get the most for the buck and make sure that it can be repaired in your area.

Woody- If you have direct correspondence with Paslode would you recommend to them that on the next design phase of the impulse guns that they place the flashing battery light of the handle on the other side of the gun so when I rest the tool in it's opened case for an inactive spell I can glance down and see if I pulled the battery or not?

rez, I have made sugestions to everyone of the manufactures at one time or another and what the responce from most of them are (when they respond at all) is that they would like to here from the persons that are using the tool and not the persons that are working one them. If you do decide to write them your best bet is to e-mail them through there web site and send a hard copy to customer relations and ask them to foward your segestion to there R & D department and that you would like a responce from them. And, this is a good way to contacting any of them. and always ask for a responce to your letter. I just printed out your request and will foward it to them when I submit my next parts payment to them. Most of them are pretty helpful and they politely listen and thats as far as it goes sometimes, sometimes they supprise me and I get a responce from r & d not often.

Thanks woody for some very good thoughts and suggestions. I'll add that letters should be devoid of angry ranting and poor grammer. An intelligent, polite, suggestion will get a lot more attention then a rambling, angry, complaint full of suggestions about where to stuff their tools. It's a human being on the other end, he'll react just like you would and file it appropriately.Excellence is its own reward!
