My home has Aluminum siding, that is approximately 30 years old, that has begun to peel. (the finish – White – is coming off leaving the silverery looking Aluminum). I have scrapped some spots and repainted but in a short time they peel again. Is there a special type paint that I should be using? Also is this a common problem?

Benny Moore has the paint
Hiya bob- Back in the old forum we talked about aluminum siding paint but who knows where now. I did a house similar to what you're experiencing with good results: a happy homeowner. Powerwashed lighted to remove obvious paint and grime then a light sanding with an orbital to give some teeth for the paint to stick to. I used a sherwin williams product for metal that has the primer built right in. Did two coats by brush, white. Came out even white and seems pretty durable but only seen two years of southwest sun so who can say. I'd do it again the same way. Sanding might seem a bit extreme but prep work is what will make or break a paint job. best to ya
