I had a sheet vinyl floor replaced and the installer cut the sheet too short and it does not extend all the way to the edge of the landing so that there would be a gap between the edge of the vinyl and an aluminum stair edge which is a standard 1 1/8 inches wide. As an alternative, the installer put down a flat aluminum strip which covers the vinyl edge and extends to the edge of the landing. Because the landing is at an exterior door which goes to an unheated garage I did not like the fact that the subflooring is visible when viewed from the garage side of the door and the edge is sharp. The installer then put down the aluminum stair edge which sits on the flat strip. Problem here is that the door sweep sticks and rips on the thickened flat strip/stair edge combination. A good fix would be an aluminum stair edge wider that 1 1/8 inches…2 inches wide is what I need. I have checked the internet and cannot locate aluminum stair edging wider than the standard 1 1/8. Anybody know where to find something like this or any thoughts on how to solve this? I replaced the door sweep a few months ago and now this one is in need of replacement.

Maybe use a stair tread instead, something like: http://www.amazon.com/Surface-Aluminum-Stair-Tread-Redgray/dp/B0010SDRLA
