My daughters house built in 1985 has single hung aluminum windows with a balacer cord from the top of the window attached to the sash with a plastic “J” hook. This plastic piece is breaking -we need to find out who manufactured these windows or a source for parts. Any ideas?

If there is no manuf. name on any of the hardware on the window (latch, etc) look between the glass at the divider strip. There should be some coding stamped on that strip. Date of manufacture among other letters and numbers. Post that here, maybe it'll ring a bell.
Or look here for a possible match on the hardware you need.
