Check out what this guy is doing with tile.
tilepics. is an amazing set of cuts using various different colored tiles
anchor. is a simple cutout filled with grout
BIG. is a very complex design. The cool thing about this one is that he not only cut the pattern inside the circle, but he cut the 2″ perimeter as well as every outside piece that comes in contact with the radius.
circles. is an example of the complex radius that can be cut
dragon. is just plain cool
flame. is an example of a grouted design using 2 diferent colored tiles
willo. are examples of using colored tiles inset into different colored tiles with colored grout to match the surrounding tiles- willo brew co. is a very nice little pub around here

No, I'm a contractor/carpenter and I was called to a machine shop to price out rebuilding the corner of the office that was crushed by a snow plow.
I got to talking with the owner in his office and I saw some tile pieces strewn about and inquired.
He tells me times are slow and hes got to find a way to keep his machines going.
Hopefully I get the job!
What would those be cut on? A waterjet?
That'd be my guess. Similar work I've seen in stone is done that way. Be interesting to find out.
i'm not sure what that guy is using ,but i would guess a waterjet. bil's bussiness is waterjetting. anything you can put on a pc of paper or dream up he can cut.
i saw a granite counter top he cut that had a different color inlaid,it was pretty amazing looking.i really don't know what it cost for something like that tile, but it's got great wow factor thats for sure. larryif a man speaks in the forest, and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
Nice stuff.
How are the cuts being made? Pick his brain and find out if he will ship!
Jim
I will talkto him this week.
I know everything is designed on a computer and each individual shape is layed out on the tile before cutting, so say hes using 12x12 tile and there are a bunch of small pieces needed. He will laout as many pieces as will fit on one 12x12 to minimize scrap.
He did say that all the time involved is in the setup so to cut one single custom tile the cost would be outrageous but if you want 25-50 of the same then the price per piece would be reasonable.
Here are some more.
Man, that helmet is desirous.

The cuts are made with waterjets.
Yes he will ship anywhere.
He is starting to set the more complicated designs on a mat, mosaic style, to help ease the installation cost.

When you email make sure to reference tile work or tile cuts in the subjet to make it easier to recognize.
If you call him tell him you saw pictures posted by Matt Urbas, First Class Construction Inc. He will know what pictures you are talking about then.
