I was looking for bathroom sink faucet and found American Standard from HD. It has ceramic disk washers and new kind of cable operated sink stopper. The cable operation seems to work fine and in a way, it works really well for me because this sink I am working on has really small space in the back and I had to rig awkward extension for the stopper push/pull rod.
I just found out about this new way to operate the stopper, and I like to ask if anybody is using this and how it is working for them. It is also very cheap. $44.00. Is this any reflection on the quality of this faucet?
Also, does the cable continue to operate smoothly even if water gets into it from cleaning, etc?
Thank you in advance.

Dunno about the cable, but they installed AS ceramic faucets in our gym locker room maybe 4-5 years back and they've held up well.
Look at it this way: Could the cable be any worse than the crummy lever-operated drains of yesteryear?
Most American Standard faucets have the Speed Connect Drain, which makes the faucet faster and easier to install. You are correct, a big benefit is the ease of installation and ability to be flexible “under the sink” to avoid interferences. With less moving parts versus others drain systems, there is less chance of performance issues – in fact our Speed Connect never needs adjustment, which is a common issue with the typical mechanism. Read the Honorable Mention Speed Connect received from Handy magazine for innovation http://www.handymanclub.com/club/default.aspx?top=37538&rt=37660 . Thanks!

I've installed two of them in customers rental houses. They seemed fine to me but I have no long term or personal use with them.
I think there is alot of pressure on manufactureres to lower prices. If they look good and work people buy them.
But most people don't ask, "how long will this last"?
Alot of things that used to be built to last are now considered somewhat disposable.
If i fix the old faucet it still is old a somewhat drity.
If I install a new one it looks better style wise and they don't have to clean it.
