American Standard R120 Valve Maintenance
We had an American Standard R120 pressure blanaced valve installed in our shower in February, 2007. It’s worked fine until this week (July 27,2016). At the vanity we can get hot water and cold water. In the shower we get warm water and cool water, but not hot or cold. Is there a part that wears out in this valve? Is there a kit I should look for to fix it? Can I do it myself (reasonably handy) or do I need a plumber?
Thanks.

contact American Standard with the model number. If nothing else they should ship you a new cartridge.
You can certainly change that out yourself or give your friendly plumber or qualified handy person the job.
the valves have just a couple ways to screw up, old crusted cartridge or fleck of something stuck somewhere. If your lucky you might just remove the cartridge and clean it up and reinsert.
make note of the parts you take out and their orientation, things go back the way they come out.
